For over 20 years, The Simon Group has been helping the Methuen Historical Society (MHS) protect and maintain the rich character of its city by supporting advocacy, education, and outreach programs. Encouraging a new generation to appreciate the city’s artifacts, structures, and monuments can be challenging, and Simon helped MHS develop and execute a winning strategy to do just that. Some fun work included:
• Building awareness to increase membership
• Designing a new identity for their museum
• Developing a strategy for a successful grand opening
In 2017, the MHS’ Museum of History was relocated to the historical Tenney Gate House, a move that provided greater presence in the community and amplified the need to create an identity for the Museum that was both unique and symbiotic with the Historical Society. Simon developed the positioning and comprehensive identity package including logo and brand elements that provided visual impact while paying homage to historical integrity.
Education and advocacy are core to MHS’s mission to perpetuate the town’s rich history. Leveraging MHS’s beautiful historical photography, Simon developed a suite of collateral to promote and encourage attendance at important events that help instill the responsibility to protect the city’s heritage.
During the relocation, MHS entrusted Simon to design and strategically place dozens of artifacts, displays, wayfinding, and environmental graphics to optimize visitor traffic flow. From exhibit cases and monument pedestals to wall murals and invitations, Simon helped MHS create a buzz at the Museum’s grand opening.
